To generate mass awareness among the commonwealth member countries about the Commonwealth Games, a three-member team will arrive in Dhaka on Monday as a part of the Queen’s Baton relay. The 20th edition of the Commonwealth Games will be held in Glasgow, Scotland from July 23 to August 3 next year. The three-member team comprising of Louise Martin, Louis Rosa and Rebecca Hill are now in India and will then come to Dhaka with the Queen’s Baton.
Bangladesh Olympic Association general secretary Syed Shahed Reza revealed this to reporters at a press conference on Saturday.
‘We’ve planned to accord a reception for the three-member team at the airport. Along with that, we’ve also planned to organise a rally involving three star athletes of the country led by shooter Asif Hossain Khan,’ said Reza.
‘The rally will kick-start from the airport’s VVIP terminal to Aftab Nagar, near the La Meridian hotel.’
Alongside shooter Asif Hossain Khan, who claimed a gold medal in the 2012 Commonwealth Games in the 10-meter air rifle event, Abdullah Hel Baki and Sadia Sultana will also grace the rally.
