Bangladesh cricketer Sohag Gazi, who performed incredibly in the drawn first Test match against New Zealand that ended on Sunday, had double cause for joy after an impressive all-round performance enabled him to climb upwards in three categories of the official world rankings.
The 22-year old off-spinner not only registered his maiden hundred in international cricket but also notched a hat-trick on the fifth and final day of the first Test in Chittagong that saw him improve significantly in the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for Test matches.
In the all-rounder category, Sohag jumped from 60th position to 31st position while in the bowlers’ category, the Barisal lad leapt to 36th place from his previous position of 49th.
In the batsmen category, Sohag previously occupied 156th position but an unbeaten 101 in the Tigers’ first innings allowed him to move to 119th place.
