Road accidents kill 30 during Eid holidays

At least 30 people were killed and 66 injured in 22 road accidents in 18 districts across the country during Eid holidays from Tuesday to Friday.
In Sylhet, five people — Lekhon Mia, 35, Khwaja Abdur Razzak, 65, Ojiur Rahman, 35, and two unidentified ones were killed when a bus drove into a CNG run auto-rickshaw on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Osmani Nagar in Sylhet on Tuesday night on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha.
All victims were riding the auto-rickshaw.
Angry residents of the area set the bus on fire, causing an hour-long tailback on the highway.
In Magura, Iqbal Shikder, 28, was killed at Balidia under Mohammadpur upazila when he was hit by a motorcycle on Thursday evening.
In Naogaon, two motorcycle riders, Parimal Kumar, 30, and Jagdish Kumar, 25, were killed as their motorcycle collieded with a mini-truck at Nilkuthi under Manda upazila on Thursday at around noon. The truck managed to flee.
Earlier on Wednesday evening, motorcyclist Arun Biswas, 30, was killed on Naogaon-Badalgachhi road at Paikpara under Naogaon Sadar upazila as his motorcycle was hit by a bus.
An unidentified man, aged around 45, was killed on Darshana-Jibannagar highway at Tamaltala in Chuadanga as he was hit by an engine-driven van.
One Michharon Bewa, 60, was killed on Meherpur-Kushtia highway at Tarail in Meharpur as she was hit by a motorcycle on Thursday afternoon.
In Nilphamari, a housewife, Hasna Banu, 25, was killed when she was run over by a Syedpur-bound bus on Dimla-Syedpur road at Keyarbazar under Dimla in Nilphamari on Friday morning.
30 passangers of the bus were injured as the bus fell into a roadside ditch when it hurriedly tried to flee.
A 5-year-old boy, Al-Kawsar Tawhid, died in a Dhaka hospital on Friday morning after he was brought there with serious injury after being hit by an auto-rickshaw at Tarabganj under Kamalnagar in Laxmipur on Thursday afternoon.
On early Tuesday, a fire service employee, Pear Ahmed, 51, was killed in front of Ramgati Fire Station under Ramgati in Laxmipur when a police pick-up hit him.
In Bhola, two motorcyclists, Md Khalil, 38, and Momin Mia, 28, were killed as their motorcycle collided head-on with a bus on Hospital Road under Lalmohon upazila on Friday morning.
In Manikganj, Sandwip Paul, 20, was killed as he was run over by a Dhaka-bound bus of Golden Line Paribahan on Dhaka-Paturia highway at Falsatia area under Shibalaya in Manikganj on Thursday noon.
On early Wednesday, a 35-year-old unidentified man was killed and ten other bus passangers were injured as two passenger buses collided head-on on Dhaka-Aricha highway at Nabagram under Shibalaya in Manikganj.
A sub-inspector of Rapid Action Battalion-6, Farukh Hossain, was killed as his motorcycle was hit by a private car from the back on Dhaka-Khulna highway at Shibrampur in Faridpur on Thursday noon.
In Comilla, two persons – a driver of hide carrying pick-up, Momin, 20, and a passanger Md Malek Mia, 35, were killed at Dakhkhin Tejerbazar rail-crossing under Nangalkot upazila as the Sylhet-bound inter-city train ‘Paharika’ hit the pick-up on Thursday at around 10:30am.
On Thursday morning, Abul Kashem, 30, was killed when a Begumganj-bound bus ran into a tea stall by the side of Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Chhayghariya under Chandina in Comilla. At least 14 passangers of the bus were injured.
An indigenous woman, Bishti Rakhkhok, 42, was killed as she was run over by a bus at Baridhara in Dhaka on Thursday morning.
Pujan Blhattacharjee, 28, was killed and at least 10 people were injured when a bus carrying a bridal party ran into a roadside pond at Pukuria under Banshkhali in Chittagong on Wednesday night.
Two motorcyclists, Raja Bhuiyan, 18, and Md Matin, 22, were killed as their motorcycles collied head-on on Ishwardi-Natore highway at Muladuli in Pabna on Wednesday night.
Hanif Bhuiyan, 40, was killed as he was run over by a bus on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at Shantinagar under Sarail in Brahminbaria on Wednesday night.
A 16-year-old boy, Shaheed Bapari, was killed and five others were injured as they were hit by a Daulatdia-boud bus on the highway at Goalanda in Rajbari on Wednesday morning.
Obaidur Rahman, 35, was killed at Hatila rail crossing under Sadar upazila in Tangail as he fell off from the roof of Dinajpur-bound ‘Drutajan Express’ early on Tuesday.
In Noakhali, Abdul Mannan, 37, was killed as he was hit by a bus at Mannannagar intersection under Noakhali Sadar upazila in Noakhali on Tuesday morning.
