The body of a housewife was found hanging at her residence in the capital’s Kalabagan early yesterday. Police recovered the body of Kamrunnahar Lima, 30, after breaking open the door around 2:30am on information from her in-laws, said Kalabagan police. Primarily, police suspected it to be a suicide but Lima’s family claimed that her husband Fazlur Rahman, a garment worker and drug addict, murdered her demanding dowry.
The victim’s brother Khandaker Mahmudul said, “My sister got married seven years ago. In the meantime, we paid him dowry several times for the torture on her to stop.”
Fazlur Rahman denied the allegations.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy.
