BNP chairperson and leader of the opposition Khaleda Zia will unveil her party’s position on Premier Sheikh Hasina’s offer to form all-party election-time interim government at a press conference scheduled for Monday afternoon. Khaleda Zia, also chief of the 18-party alliance, may put forward an alternative proposal over the poll-time administration at the press conference, party sources said. The press conference is scheduled to hold at Hotel Westin in the capital at about 4 pm today.
BNP has been carrying out antigovernment movement only to ensure holding of the next parliamentary poll under a non-party caretaker government (CG) oversight as the party has already lost its trust on the ruling Awami League, sources said.
The opposition party has also been telling the government that no election under Sheikh Hasina administration would be allowed to hold. The chief of the election-time administration has to be non-political in the interest of a free, fair and impartial general poll, the sources added.
While talking to The Independent, Khandakar Mahbub Hossain, standing committee member of the party, said Khaleda Zia may claim equal share of the election-time administration keeping its head non-political.
