Tickets for the World Twenty20 2014 in Bangladesh will go on sale on November 10 at the MoneyGram outlets of selected NCC and Agrani bank branches throughout the country.
The global T20 event, scheduled to begin on March 16, will feature men’s and women’s matches at three venues across the country. The price for group-stage tickets ranges from Tk 50 to Tk 2000 each, while the cost of tickets for the semi-finals will be Tk 100 to Tk 3000.
The ticket for the finals will start at Tk 200, going up to Tk 4000.
The last time Bangladesh hosted a mega cricketing event – the ICC World Cup 2011 – a third of the tickets were allocated for the officials and dignitaries, with the rest going to the general public.
This time, ICC general manager Campbell Jamieson said that the majority of the tickets will be reserved for the fans.
‘It’s a great opportunity for the public of Bangladesh. With the tickets going on sale from the 10th of November at 50 taka, they are very affordable, and you will be able to access those tickets from the ICC website [www.icc-cricket.com],’ said Jamieson at a city hotel on Sunday during the launching programme of the World T20 2014.
‘The number of tickets, majority of tickets will actually be available to be purchased by public, when I say majority I mean a very high percentage.
‘I don’t know the exact guidelines because it changes very slightly. It will be available through the MoneyGram outlets throughout the country,’ he said.
Matches will be held at the 25,000-seater Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, the 18,000-capacity Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong and at the Sylhet Stadium, which is yet to be completed.
