Hefazat-e-Islami Bangladesh, a qaumi madrasa-based organisation, has postponed its scheduled rally at Shapla Square in the city on November 15, said city leader of the organisation. Maulana Ahlullah Wasel, Dhaka city media chief of the HIB, said they have taken the decision considering the holy Ashura on November 15 and Dhaka district Tablig-e-Jamaat programme on November 14.
The new date for the rally will be announced later, he said.
Earlier city Hefazat leaders in a letter on November 5 sought permission from Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to hold the rally.
Ameer of Hefazat-e-Islami had announced the programme from Chittagong divisional rally at Hathazari Parboti High School Ground on November 2 protesting the “government’s conspiracy” to control over qaumi madrasa and demanding implementation of their 13-point demands.
