BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the ruling Awami League leaders should now think of protecting themselves from public wrath as all cabinet ministers resigned on Monday.
“As you (ministers) have submitted your resignation letters to the PM, now think about how you will escape the public wrath,” he said while talking to reporters at the BNP central party office at Nayapaltan in the city. “People of the country are waiting for the resignation of the Prime Minister. BNP will take it positively if she does it. As she has not signed, it is clear that her election plan is a part of secret agenda,” he said.
This government does not have any legality. It is clinching to the state power by force. Not only the cabinet ministers but also the prime minister should resign. If she resigns peace and stability will prevail in the country,” he demanded.
Rizvi also said that the people knew it well why the cabinet ministers submitted the resignation letters to the premier. “It is the part of a plan for the formation of all-party government to hold a lopsided election,” he alleged.
Criticising the statement of Prime Minister that she wants peace not premiership, Rizvi said, “In fact, Prime Minister neither wants democracy nor peace. She has started a crackdown on opposition leaders and activists through killing and oppressive acts. She has described such act as peaceful environment.”
The BNP leader said, “Try to read the minds of public. People are eagerly waiting to participate in the parliamentary polls only under a non-party government.”
About the selling of AL nomination papers, Rizvi said, “Awami League is selling nomination papers to hold an election under a blueprint of conspiracy. It is a part of the international master plan. But ultimately they won’t be able to sustain against the mass upsurge.”
Replying to a query, he said, “We have asked the government whether the opposition leader and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is house arrest. We did not get any answer to that. We have got a dastardly reply from the government.”
