The first-ever 15-day SAARC conference on cytopathology and histopathology began in the Chittagong city on Thursday. The pathology department of Chittagong Medical College Hospital organised the conference at Dr Shah Alam Bir Uttom Auditorium.
Second international conference titled CMC-Path CME also kicked off at the same venue.
Experts on cytopathology and histopathology from SAARC countries are taking part in the conference to share their
findings.
Vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Pran Gupal Datta inaugurated the conference while convener of the conference and general secretary of SAARC academy of cyto and histopathology, also head of the pathology department Dr Md. Jillur Rahman, delivered his maiden speech.
Dr Jillur described the importance of forming such body and underscored the interaction of the experts working on the subjects.
Discussant stressed increasing the consummate skill of cyto and histopathologist as they deemed it necessary to organise such event to share individual’s experience.
President of Bangladesh Academy of Pathology Professor AJ Nahar Begum, president of SAARC academy of Cyto and Histopathology Professor Shahid Parvej from Aga Khan University Medical College of Pakistan, principle of Chittagong Medical College Professor Selim Md Jahangir, Professor of the pathology department under Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Kamrul Hasan Khan, chief patron of the SAARC academy and renowned
clinical cytologist Professor Asitav Mondol spoke among others in the conference.
