Pace bowler Abul Hasan said he was looking to start bowling again in six weeks when he returned home from Australia on Saturday after undergoing successive surgeries on his injured shoulder.
The bowler went to Australia for spinal surgery after sustaining the injury in March during the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo. The injury was the latest setback for Hasan, who shot to prominence by scoring a century at number 10 in his test debut against the West Indies in 2012.
Later in that series he suffered a side strain during his side’s 160-run win in the second ODI in Khulna, finally making his comeback in the Sri Lanka series.
Misery continued to follow Abul, as he required a second operation after the initial surgery failed to fix the problem.
‘I can return to the field to bowl after six weeks,’ Abul said at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday.
‘There were some pains after the first operation, so they decided to do another operation that was successful.’
‘Doctor said that I can start jogging now, along with doing some gym work.’
‘[The injury] was not because of bowling action but for continuous load,’ he added.
The right arm pace bowler added that he really missed the New Zealand series and is looking forward to making a comeback to the national team, though he recognised that the time off had made him fall behind some of the other players he will be competing against for selection.
‘I missed the New Zealand tour. A pace bowler will have injuries and now I am looking forward to prepare me for making a comeback in the national team.’
‘There is certainly some gap [between Abul and the other pacers] in the last five months.’
