Customs officials seized at least 15 kilograms of gold from an incoming flight Monday morning and arrested one in connection with gold smuggling. The arrested was identified as Khairul Bashar. The customs officials recovered 128 gold bars from his possession. Assistant commissioner of Chittagong customs Moshiur Rahman said that a Biman flight BG-048 from Dubai arrived at Shah Amanat International Airport at 10:00am.
The officials searched the bag of Bashar and found the gold bars weighing 1,280 tolas, he added. The estimated worth of the seized gold would be Tk 6.40 crore, the officials said.
