The Primary and Ebtedayee Terminal Examinations 2013 will begin across the country today (Wednesday), reports UNB. Some 29,50,193 students — 26,35,406 from schools and 3,14,787 from madrasahs — will take part in the examinations to be held simultaneously in 6,574 centres. Of the school examinees, 12,14,909 are boys and 14,20,497 girls.
Among the Ebtedayee candidates, 1,57,227 are boys and 1,57,560 girls. A total of 6,457 students of English medium will also take part in the examinations this year.
The examinations will be held in 6,566 centres across the country. Besides, 774 candidates will appear in the examinations in eight overseas centres in Jeddah, Riyadh, Tripoli, Qatar, Abu Dhabi and Oman.
According to the new rules, the answer scripts of one upazila will be evaluated by teachers of another upazila under the same district.
The district and metropolitan committees under the National Steering Committee will decide the distribution of the answer sheets.
The examinations on mathematics under the Primary and Ebtedayee education will be held on the first day on Wednesday.
The schedules of other examinations are: Bangla on Nov 21, English on Nov 24, Bangladesh-O-Biswa Porichoi and Paribesh Parichiti (Samaj) on Nov 25, Prathomik Bijnan (Science) and Arabic on Nov 27, and Dharmo (Religion) and Quran-O-Tajbeed and Aqaeed-O-Fiqah on Nov 28.
The examinations will be held every day from 11 am to 1 pm.
Physically challenged students will get extra 20 minutes in their examinations.
The examinations are scheduled to end on November 28.
