The prime minister is learnt to have allocated portfolios to ministers of the poll-time government. The portfolios were allocated on Wednesday night and a gazette notification in this regard will be issued on Thursday. According to sources, Awami League (AL) advisory council members Tofail Ahmed has been given the charge of industries and land ministries and Amir Hossain Amu the public works ministry, while Workers Party president Rashed Khan Menon given the post and telecommunications ministry.
Jatiya Party Secretary General Ruhul Amin Hawlader will look after the civil aviation and tourism ministry, while JP presidium members Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud and Rawsan Ershad have been given the charge of the water resources ministry and the health ministry respectively.
Another JP presidium member Salma Islam has been made state minister for women and children affairs while Mujibul Haq Chunnu of the party made the state minister for Youth and Sports.
Among the ministers of the AL-led grand alliance government, Law Minister Barrister Shafiq Ahmed has been made PM’s adviser while Railway Minister Mujibul Haque reassigned as religious affairs minister. Disaster Management Minister Mahmood Ali has got the charge of foreign ministry.
Portfolios of other ministers of the grand alliance government, who will be included in the poll-time government, will be allocated through the gazette notification on Thursday, the sources said.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in her concluding speech in parliament earlier in the day said portfolios of the ministers of the interim cabinet will be allocated through a gazette notification on Thursday.
