Chinese Ambassador Li Jun on Tuesday said that China, as a near neighbour, is closely follows what is happening in this brotherly country. “China strongly believes that a stable, peaceful, prosperous and independent Bangladesh is a fundamental interest of the Bangladeshi people,” said Li Jun after a meeting with Foreign Minister Mahmood Ali at the ministry. The Chinese ambassador said the foreign minister had given him a general picture of the recent developments in Bangladesh in terms of the continuity of the constitution.
“As a developing country, China fully understands that social and political stability is a must for a nation’s development,” he said.
“I was encouraged by the Foreign Minister’s introduction that the dialogue is still on,” said Li Jun. The Chinese envoy expressed his hope that a dialogue would yield good results.
As a traditional friend, China sincerely called upon the major political parties in Bangladesh to find a solution to the current crisis through a peaceful dialogue, said the envoy. Responding to a question, Li Jun said that China encourages a constructive and patient dialogue to find a solution to the problem.
