China hopes there will be a smooth election in Bangladesh in January, which the country’s opposition has pledged to boycott. “As a good and close neighbour of Bangladesh, China sincerely hopes that all concerned parties in the country will put the interests of the whole above everything else,” Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Qin Gang said yesterday.He called on the relevant parties to settle their disputes through dialogue, ensure a smooth election, and work together for political and social stability and economic development, reported Xinhua.
