Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan returned to competitive cricket yesterday after recovering from dengue fever, but his presence was not enough for FMC Fighters to avoid a seven-wicket defeat to Pirates of Chittagong in the CJKS Corporate T20 cricket tournament at the MA Aziz Stadium.
Shakib first scored 19 runs before bowling four overs to take one wicket. His side scored 103 for 9. Asif Ahmed made team highest 25.
In reply, local boy Nazimuddin hit an unbeaten 57 and national all-rounder Nasir Hossain added 30 as the Pirates reached their target in 17.1 overs. Nazimuddin was adjudged player-of-the-match.
In the day’s second match, Four H Cricket beat BSRM by five wickets after the vanquished scored 80 for 8 wickets.
In reply, Four H Cricket posted 84 for five in 18.4 overs.
Local boy Nafis Iqbal made team highest 35. Rony Chowdhury was adjudged player-of-the-match for picking up three wickets.
