Bangladesh golfer Siddikur Rahman made a terrible start to the Hong Kong Open as he ended round one on Thursday in joint-69th position. Siddik hit one-over-par 71 on the opening day of the US$1.3 million tournament at the Hong Kong golf club. The 29-year-old Bangladeshi golfer began his campaign with a bogey and a double bogey in the 5th and 6th holes before two birdies in the 8th and 12th holes saved the day for him from turning worse.
Ireland’s David Higgins was leading the standings after round one after he struck six-under-par 64, while Australian golfer Wade Ormsby was occupying joint-10th position.
Siddik will be looking to improve on his opening day’s performance, with Indian pair Jyoti Randhawa and Gaganjeet Bhullar also suffering a terrible opening day. Randhawa and Bhullar, who recently won the Indonesia Open, were in joint-88th and joint-105th place respectively.
