Bangladesh Railway authorities have decided to halt train services during the night for an indefinite period on four routes under Lalmonirhat railway division.
The decision, taken on Thursday night, came following sabotage on the rail tracks, during the opposition alliance’s blockade programmes, which led to several incidents of derailment.
The train services have been suspended on Lalmonirhat-Burimari of Lalmonirhat, Lalmonirhat-Santahar of Joypurhat, Lalmonirhat-Parbatipur of Dinajpur and Parbatipur-Santahar routes. Railway officials said 42 coaches and 6 locomotives have derailed because of removal of tracks and fishplates since November 25.
