The United Airways Limited, a private airliner, has pledged to provide an automatic excavator to the Sylhet City Corporation authorities to accelerate the project of renovating and reclaiming land of main canals in the city. The airways authorities confirmed the matter in a courtesy call on the city mayor, Ariful Haque Chowdhury, at his Nagar Bhaban office on Thursday afternoon, the SCC officials said.
The airliner chairman cum managing director, Tasbirul Ahmed Chowdhury, said all the NRBs and business organisations should come forward to provide fund for development of the city corporations.
The organisation director, Mahtabur Rahman Naser, also the Al Haramine Group chairman, showed interest to provide assistance to the city corporation for installing a gas-based power plant, the officials said.
SCC mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury expressed his greeting to the United Airways authorities for their initiative of providing the city corporation with an excavator.
The United Airways and the city corporation officials attended the meeting.
Later, on Friday afternoon, the mayor said the airways authorities were supposed to contact with him in a further meeting in mid December to discuss about the process of importing the excavator machine.
