The Bangladesh Under-19 bowlers bundled the visiting West Indies Under-19s out for 118 to guide the Junior Tigers to a 104-run victory in the first of the seven-match ODI series in Chittagong on Friday. The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium but stumbled to 84-6 by the 31st over after Ramaal Lewis (3-24) and Gudakesh Moti-Kanhai (2-24) ripped through the top-order.
A 119-run seventh-wicket stand between man-of-the-match Mosaddek Hossain and Saeed Sarkar rescued the Junior Tigers and helped them post 222.
Mosaddek scored 77 from 107 balls, while Saeed blasted 83 off 66 deliveries.
Mosaddek also took two wickets for just 16 runs with the ball as a balanced Bangladesh Under-19 attack stifled the touring batsmen. Captain Mehedi Hasan also took two for 16, while Nihaduzzaman took two for 18 and leg-spinner Jubair Hossain mopped up the tail to claim three for 30.
Jamaican Tristan Coleman scored 42 from 106 balls but received no support from his team-mates and was finally caught behind by wicketkeeper Jashimuddin off Mehedi to bring the chase to an end in the 45th over.
