Four people, including two of a family, were killed and nine others injured as a jeep rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Barapara on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Daudkandi upazila on Wednesday, reports UNB. The deceased were identified as Yasmin, 30, wife of one Ismail Hossain of the Barapara, their five-year old daughter Janaat, Abdul Matin, 32 of Tuzer Bhanga area and Delu Miah, 28, of Hrishipara of the upazila. Mizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Daudkandi Highway Police Station, said the Dhaka-bound Pajero Jeep hit the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction around 5:30 pm, killing two autorickshaw passengers- Yasmin and Janaat and its driver Matin dead on the spot and injuring nine others. Of the injured, four were sent to different hospitals in Dhaka in critical condition while the rest admitted to local Gouripur Hospital. Later, Delu Miah, one of the injured, succumbed to his injuries at Gouripur Hospital while undergoing treatment. Police recovered the bodies and seized the accident-hit vehicles.
