Sakib Al Hasan is set to join the Adelaide Strikers and become the first Bangladeshi in Australia’s domestic T-20 competition, the Big Bash League, the Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Wednesday. The BCB confirmed that they received an e-mail from Strikers director of cricket Jimmy Cox, asking for Sakib as a replacement for their injured captain, South African Johan Botha.Sakib is to play for the Strikers for two weeks and may play longer depending on the team’s progress in the competition. Sakib will leave Dhaka as soon as he gets his Australian visa. With the move, the star all-rounder completes the list of major Twenty20 competitions he has played in, having played in England, India, Bangladesh and the West Indies before.
The Adelaide Strikers are currently second in the BBL table with five points from three games. Their next two matches are scheduled to take place on January 5 and January 9 against the Sydney Sixers and the Melbourne Stars respectively.
