President of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh Prof Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury on Tuesday urged the Prime Minister to cancel the 10th Parliament elections and sit across the table to negotiate the next general polls. “All, except one country in the globe observed that the January 5 election was not held in a proper manner. Being provoked by the government, the Election Commission deceived the people,” he said this at a press conference of the newly formed National Democratic Front (NDF) at the National Press Club.
The former President urged the government to form upper house in the parliament, hold election under a non-partisan authority and withdraw the restriction on holding rallies and meetings.
He also called upon the opposition to end non-stop hartal, blockade programmes and violence.
The NDF leader alleged that the government deprived about five crore people from their voting rights. “Among the rest of the four crore voters, only 2.5 per cent of them franchised their rights.
