The driver of a CNG-run 3-wheeler was killed on the new airport road near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city yesterday. Police suspect members of oggyan party (criminals gangs that use drugs to make people unconscious and loot their valuables) to be responsible for the murder. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Elias Ali, 50, who lived at the Geneva Camp area in Mohhamdpur. Police said members of oggyan party may have fed him poisonous substances by mixing that with food to hijack his CNG-run auto-rickshaw. After being informed by locals, police rescued the driver in an unconscious state at around 2:00am and took him to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital. On arrival at the hospital, the doctors declared Elias Ali dead, said Inspector Mozzamel Haque of DMCH police camp. The body was sent to the DMCH morgue for autopsy, he added.
