A Bangladeshi hacker breached the official website of the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Sunday in protest of India’s role in a plan to revamp the International Cricket Council.
Ashik Iqbal Chowdhury hacked the BCCI website and uploaded a picture of the Bangladesh cricket team with a caption that read: ‘Don’T MesS UP WitH TiGeRs’.The ‘big three’ – the BCCI, the England & Wales Cricket Board, and Cricket Australia – have been advocating the implementation of proposals put forth in an ICC Finance & Commercial Affairs Committee position paper, which would see the three bodies claim the lion’s share of ICC revenues.
Among other recommendations, the position paper also includes a proposal for a two-tier system in Test cricket.
If the recommendations are approved in an ICC meeting in Dubai over the next two days, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will have to fight to win the Intercontinental Cup, alongside the likes of Ireland, Scotland and Afghanistan, just to earn the right to challenge the eighth ranked Test team for promotion.
The BCCI website was ‘under maintenance’ on Monday morning and only started functioning properly later in the afternoon.
