A two-member delegation from IMG Worldwide, the internationally reputed event management company that manages the Indian Premier League, visited the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Friday. IMG vice-president Catherine Simpson headed the team to inspect the venue, which raised the possibility that Mirpur could host some matches in the next edition of the IPL.IMG Worldwide is a global sports, fashion and media business, with 3,500 employees operating in more than 30 countries around the globe.
The IPL event management team will also visit the Fatullah stadium in Narayanganj and the Zahur Ahmed
Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong during their short visit.
It was learnt that the upcoming election in India had raised the possibility that some IPL matches could be transferred to venues in other countries.
The IPL tournament committee has yet to announce the date for the seventh edition, but it is likely to be held after the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh from March 6 to April 16, 2014.
