Bangladesh head coach Shane Jurgensen showed his anger openly for the first time since taking the job, directing foul language at media members outside the Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium after completing a closed-door training session on Sunday. The mild mannered Australian, often considered the most gentlemanly coach ever hired by the Bangladesh Cricket Board, failed to control his temper and shouted a four-letter expletive towards a handful of journalists after an optional training session led by skipper Mashrafee bin Murtaza.
Journalists and photographers had been stopped at the stadium gate and were told by security personnel that the coach had banned them from the field, where some of the newcomers to the Twenty20 squad were being monitored.
It was later learned that Jurgensen’s outburst may have come because the training session was arranged without notifying the touring Sri Lankan team, which
could upset the visitors. The tourists had decided to skip their own training session after Bangladesh assured them that they would be resting.
In the training session, Sabbir Rahman mostly played on the centre wicket before facing pace bowlers Mashrafee, Al-Amin Hossain, Rubel Hossain and Farhad Reza in the nets.
Farhad also batted and took some time to hone his individual batting skills under the guidance of Corey Richards and assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin.
