The Bangladesh Under-19s will open their International Cricket Council U-19 World Cup campaign today as they take on Afghanistan at Sheikh Abu Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The young Tigers have been placed in Group B and they will also clash with Namibia on Monday before rounding off their group stage matches against three-time champions Australia on Wednesday.
Bangladesh’s best showings include winning two Plate championships in 2004 and 2010 and three Super League finishes in 2006, 2008 and 2012.
Bangladesh will be confident going into their match against the Afghans today as the young Tigers have beaten Papua New Guinea and England in their two warm-up games.
Even though Bangladesh play today, the tournament already got underway on Friday.
16 teams have been divided into four groups of four teams each in the 10th edition of the global youth cricket event. The top two teams from each group will go through to the Super League knockout quarterfinals.
The bottom two teams of each group, meanwhile, will contest the Plate championship.
