South Africa overcame the injury fears surrounding paceman Dale Steyn and skipper Faf du Plessis to humiliate Pakistan by eight wickets in their final warm-up match at Fatullah on Wednesday.
Lonwabo Tsotsobe, Beuran Hendricks and Wayne Parnell each grabbed two wickets as South Africa dismissed Pakistan for 71 runs, the lowest total put up by a team in the World Twenty20 warm-ups this year.
Only three players – Ahmed Shehzad (12), Umar Akmal (17)
and Sohaib Maqsood (15) – could reach double figures as Pakistan were all out in 17.3 overs on a pitch where Australia and New Zealand scored nearly 400 runs in the previous match.
South Africa, who missed the services of Steyn through a hamstring injury but were able to field Du Plessis, faced little trouble in going past the small total.
Hashim Amla (24) and Quinton de Kock (15) shared 39 runs in the opening stand as South Africa raced to 72-2 in 14 overs to maintain their one hundred per cent record in warm-up matches.
Umar Gul and Shahid Afridi sent back the openers in successive overs, but AB de Villiers (20 not out)
and David Miller (12 not out) took South Africa home without further trouble.
Pakistan will open their campaign in the ICC World Twenty20 with a Super 10 match against arch-rivals India in Mirpur on Friday.
South Africa will play against Sri Lanka in Chittagong the next day.
