The government on Thursday approved a proposal for setting up three information technology villages in Dhaka and Rajshahi and a hi-tech park in Sylhet, officials said.
The cabinet committee on economic affairs gave nod to the proposals by ICT division to set up an IT village at Karail in the capital, two in Rajshaihi and one hi-tech park in Sylhet under the Public Private Partnership.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith presided over the meeting at the ministry of finance.
The meeting was told that Bangladesh Hi-Tech Authority had already identified 47 acres of land at Karail, 162 acres in Sylhet and 34 acres in Rajshahi.
Besides, the committee approved another proposal to award post service benefits and general provident funds for the officials and the employees of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board.
