The Bangladesh Cricket Board will make a decision on national team’s head coach Shane Jurgensen only after knowing why he had resigned, president Nazmul Hasan said on Saturday.
‘Till now we have not thought of removing him,’ Nazmul told reporters at the Apollo Hospital, where he went to visit Mushfiqur Rahim. ‘We must think that there is the India series and the World Cup. We must know why he had resigned. It is not right for a coach of his level to resign because of some directors’ statement,’ said Nazmul.
Jurgensen submitted his resignation on April 28 as he was unhappy with some of the directors talking about his future.
Nazmul said the directors can all have their opinions but one must think if they reflect the views of the board.
‘What I feel is that if anyone expresses his opinion it should be cross-checked whether it is his personal opinion or it reflects the views of the board.
‘If he felt insecure than I can assure him that there is no need to have that.’
The BCB has called a meeting of its directors on May 5 to discuss the issue of Jurgensen among other issues.
