All-rounder Shuvagoto Hom is set to replace injured off-spinner Sohag Gazi in the Bangladesh A team for the forthcoming West Indies tour, an official of the Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Tuesday. Gazi left the field during the third day of the Bangladesh Cricket League final against BCB North Zone after he suffered a back pain abruptly. Selectors assessed the condition of Gazi and decided that a replacement would be needed.
‘Shuvagoto Hom is expected to replace Sohag [Gazi],’ said a BCB official on request of anonymity. ‘Gazi’s MRI report suggests that it would be better for him to take rest.’
It was also learnt that Robiul Islam has been suffering from thigh injury and the management is considering Shafiul Islam to replace him provided he fails to overcome the pain.
Bangladesh will play two four-day matches, three one-day matches and two Twenty20 matches in the tour with all matches scheduled in Barbados.
