There was no drizzling rain but a scorching sun, no thunderstorm but hot weather with suffocating humidity. Still, the songs depicting the spirit of rain and thunder, words praying to get rid of the heat of the sun and dancers in eye-soothing attires, brought about the feeling of a splash of downpour as cultural organisations welcomed the first day of the monsoon season through vibrant programmes on early morning on Sunday, marking the first day of Bengali monsoon month Ashar.
Colourful dance, music and recitation were presented to glorify the grace of monsoon by artistes of Satyen Sen Shilpagosthi at a programme divided into two phases at two venues in Dhaka University Campus- Hakim Chattar in the morning and Bakultala of the department of Fine Arts in the afternoon.
Besides, Unichi Shilpygosthi also welcomed monsoon at a programme at Bakultala in the morning.
