Failure To Display Price Chart
Traders warned of licence cancellation
The commerce ministry on Wednesday asked traders to display the price list of products in front of the shop and warned that if any traders failed to do so they would lose their trade license. In a meeting with the traders on prices and supply of essential commodities during Ramadan, the commerce ministry officials decided that the National Consumer Rights Protection Department and teams of district administration would monitor the price of essential commodities across the country including Dhaka.
Traders who will not comply with the ministry decision will have to face legal action and suspension of trade license as well as confiscation of the products.
The ministry also asked the wholesalers and retailers to provide receipts to the customers.
In the meeting, traders assured the commerce ministry that the prices of ginger, gram, and lentil will remain stable during the Ramadan as the supply and stock of the commodities remained sufficient.
Additional commerce secretary ATM Murtaza Reza Chowdhury, additional secretary (import) Ruhul Amin Sarker, Bangladesh Trading Corporation Chairman Sarwar Jahan, business leaders and importers Khondoker Babul, Md Abdul Mazed and Abdul Mannan, among others, attended the meeting.
