The second death anniversary of noted writer, playwright, director and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed will be observed today.
Private television channel Channel i has chalked out a day-long programme to mark the day. Besides, a Qurankhwani will be held at Nuhas Palli of Pirujali village in Gazipur where he was laid to rest, family sources said.
An Iftar party will also be arranged for the orphans, friends and local people at the Palli.
Channel i has scheduled different categories of programmes such as music show, films, talk show, teleplays to remember Humayun Ahmed.
At 7:30am, a special musical show named ‘Gaane Gaane Shokal Shuru” will be aired where songs written by Ahmed and songs that he liked will be sung by artistes. A special episode talk show Tritio Matra will be aired at 9:45am where cultural activist Nasiruddin Yusuff and actor Joyonto Chattapaddhay will recollect their memories with Humyun Ahmed.
At 10:30am, the channel will air teleplay Leelaboti, based on Ahmed’s script and directed by his widow Meher Afroz Shaon. One of the most popular Humayun Ahmed films Srabon Megher Din will be aired at 1pm today.
Humayun Ahmed died on 19 July 2012 at Bellevue Hospital in New York City from cancer.
