The ICC Cricket World Cup trophy arrived in Bangladesh on Thursday as part of its visit to countries that will participate in next year’s tournament to be staged in Australia and New Zealand from February 14 to March 29. The trophy will be taken to the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium today where it will be received by Bangladesh national team captain Mushfiqur Rahim and Bangladesh Cricket Board’s acting CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury.
The trophy will then travel to the Bashundhara City Shopping Mall on Panthapath where it will be put on display from 12:00pm to 8:00pm.
Members of the public will have the opportunity to take photos with the trophy.
Bangladesh players Shamsur Rahman, Marshall Ayub and Taskin Ahmed will make an appearance during the public display.
The World Cup trophy leaves Dhaka on Saturday morning.
After visiting 12 countries over four months, the trophy will reach Melbourne on November 6.
