Drawing inspiration from their past success and seeking to revive their fortune Bangladesh’s 15-member ODI squad led by Mushfiqur Rahim left Dhaka for West Indies on Wednesday.
During the tour, Bangladesh will play two Test matches along with three one-day internationals and a Twenty20 international. The Tigers, who are having a bad patch, losing nine ODI matches in a row, are hoping to regain their form in the Caribbean. For that, they are drawing inspiration from their earlier tour when they defeated West Indies to claim their first series win.
Bangladesh’s bowling coach Heath Streak said they are looking forward to changing their present status and a win or two will help them regain their confidence.
‘A win or two will certainly give us a confidence boost. We are going through a difficult time and eyeing to come out of it,’ Streak told reporters before their departure at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The former Zimbabwe all-rounder added he was hoping that the pacers will excel in the Caribbean as the wicket will give them some help.
‘We worked hard for the last one month,’ said Streak.
‘I hope that the pace bowlers will have an impact in the series as it is expected that the conditions will suit them,’ he added.
The Tigers will play their first two one-day matches at the national stadium in Grenada on August 20 and 22.
They will then move to St Kitts to play the last ODI match and a Twenty20 international on August 25 and 27 respectively before leaving for St Vincent to play the first Test at Arnos Vale from September 5-9.
They will end the tour at St Lucia with the last Test match which is scheduled to be held from September 13-17 at Beausejour.
