The Bangladesh Cricket Board will emphasise on taking cricket to every possible corners of the land to make it more popular and search for the new talents, said the BCB president Nazmul Hasan on Wednesday. BCB distributed ground maintenance equipments among several District Sports Associations at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in order to improve maintenance standards along with developing their respective cricket grounds.
‘Today we provided instruments to 39 districts while, earlier, we distributed it among 25 more. But our main objective is one and that is to make cricket more popular throughout Bangladesh,’ said Nazmul.
‘The more we can popularise cricket in the villages and other areas, the more players’ we can expect to get,’ he said.
A range of equipments consisting of rollers, boundary ropes, grass cutting machines were handed over to the nominated DSA officials in a small ceremony. Nazmul added that now the BCB will monitor the development work of the DSA more closely.
‘We will keep an eye on each of the districts,’ said Nazmul ‘If there are people who have not done anything for the district but have been getting benefits, then we will definitely do something about them,’ added the BCB president.
