The Bangladesh Cricket Board began the election procedure for the two vacant vice-president posts at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday. The interested candidates will be allowed to buy and submit the nomination papers at the BCB headquarters till September 11.
However, the withdrawal of Afzalur Rahman Sinha has made the race open for other two candidates – ex-vice-president Mahbub Anam and Azam Nasir, a BCB director from Chittagong.
Scrutiny of the nomination papers and publishing of the preliminary list of candidates will be held at the BCB office on September 13.
The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is September 14 while the final list of the candidates will be published on the following day.
A meeting of the BCB directors will be held on September 16 and it is expected to be followed by the election of the vice-presidents.
Veteran cricket organiser and former BCB vice-president, Sazzadul Alam also declined to participate in the election to give his partner Mahbub Anam a chance to team up with Chittagong-based Azam Nasir, unless someone else of the BCB directors wishes to seize the opportunity.
