Zimbabwe received an injury scare ahead of the second Test match against Bangladesh when batsman Craig Ervine sustained an injury on his right hand during a net session at Khulna on Saturday. Ervine was taken to the hospital in the evening to complete his MRI and a decision regarding him will only be taken after going through the report. Ervine, the left-handed middle order batsman, who returned to international cricket after 18 months of lay-off, suffered the injury when a ball from seamer Tendai Chatara bounced awkwardly to hit him in his forearm.
‘We are suspecting that he has broken his forearm of the right hand,’ Zimbabwe manager Mufaro Chiturumani told New Age over phone from Khulna on Saturday.
‘But we can only say something about his chances for the next match after getting the MRI report,’ said Mufaro.
According to an official of the Bangladesh Cricket Board that chances were very limited for Ervine to recover as the forearm swelled up to a great extent once he returned to the hotel.
