Legends, Doleshwar, Mohammedan and KCA all qualify
The Super League line-up of the of the Dhaka Premier League were completed on Sunday with defending champions Legends of Rupganj, Prime Doleshwar and Mohammedan Sporting Club wining their respective matches to book a place. They are joined by Prime Bank CC and Abahani Limited and Kalabagan Cricket Academy with the later facing Victoria Sporting Club in their final match today.
Victoria had mathematical chance of qualifying if any of the trio had lost their Sunday’s match, but it did not happen.
They will raise their tally to 14 points if they can beat KCA but will still miss out the Super League on head-to-head count.
Tamim Iqbal led Legends to a six-wicket win over Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club at the Sher-e-Banngla Natiional Stadium while Rony Talukdar’s unbeaten 112 propelled Doleshwar to an easy eight-wicket win over Partex SC at the BKSP.
In the other match of the day at Fatullah, a brilliant all-round show by Rahmat Shah, who scored 33 and captured 4-29, was enough for Mohammedan to earn a 22-run win over Kalabagan.
Legends of Rupganj v Sheikh Jamal DC
Tushar Imran made 64 off 107 balls and Nahidul Islam added 43 off 34 balls as Jamal posted 167-8 in their 45 overs.
Sharifullah and Abul Hassan captured 3-13 and 2-26 respectively to lead the Legends’ attack.
Replying to the modest target, Legends never looked back as Tamim smashed 73 off 90 balls hitting 10 fours.
Sakib al Hasan finished the job with an unbeaten 27 off 15 balls as Legends cruised to 171-4 with 8.4 overs to spare to bag their seventh win.
Prime Doleshwar v Partex SC
Abdulla Al Mamun struck 93 from 103 balls with 11 fours and four sixes and captain Mehrab Hossain Jr followed him with his fifth fifty of the league by scoring 60 off 79 balls before Partex were all out for 233 runs.
Dawid finished with 4-25 and was assisted by Elias Sunny who claimed 3-38.
Doleshwar faced little problem to overhaul the score after Rony Talukdar and Mushfiqur Rahim shared 140 runs for the second wicket.
Mushfiq was dismissed for 70 off 78 balls but Rony went on to score a century and finish the game off as Doleshwar reached 235-2 in 44.4 overs.
His 123-ball innings included nine fours and four sixes.
Mohammedan SC v Kalabagan KC
Sent into bat first in a must win contest at Fatullah, Mohammedan were in a dire striate when they lost four wickets for 24 before Ariful Haque rescued the side with 83 off 107 balls.
Rahmat Shah and Nur Hossain provided him valuable support scoring 33 and 26 runs respectively leading the side to 194 in 41.5 overs in the fog interrupted 43-overs side contest.
Sahadat Hossain, who had rocked Mohammedan top-order with his opening spell burst, finished with 5-40.
Kalabagan were going well as Jupiter Ghosh and Shamsur Rahman shared 82 runs for the second wicket replying to the total.
But after the fall of Ghosh for 44 and Shamsur for 47, they lost their grip and lost last eight wickets for 66 runs before being dismissed for 172 in 42.2 overs.
