The election commission of Dhaka Stock Exchange has announced the voting schedule for the bourse on February 9 to elect one shareholder director of the bourse.
The three-member election commission headed by former justice Md Abdus Samad declared the schedule on Thursday. Out of the four shareholder directors, the name of outgoing director is yet to be known as all of the directors were elected for three years in February 2014 as per the demutualisation act, a DSE board member told New Age of Friday.
According to the act, one-third of the directors have to retire every year and now the shareholder directors could decide the matter reaching to a consensus, he said.
Otherwise, the bourse will arrange lottery to find out the person who will be the outgoing director, he said.
As per the election schedule, voter list will be published on January 12, while nomination papers could be collected and submitted in January 12–18.
Shareholders of the bourse will be allowed to withdraw candidature till February 1 and the EC will publish the list of eligible candidates list on the same day.
The result of the election will be officially declared at the bourse’s 53rd annual general meeting, which is yet to be finalised, the schedule said.
As per the demutualisation act, out of the 13 director posts of the bourse, four shareholder directors got elected last year to hold the director posts, while seven members of the DSE board were independent along with one post for the managing director.
Besides, one director post of the bourse is now remained vacant for the strategic investor.
