Walton Central Zone finished on 212-5 at the end of the third day against Islami Bank East Zone to take their second innings lead to 90 runs in their Bangladesh Cricket League match at Fatullah on Saturday. The day belonged to the left arm Spinner Elias Sunny who picked up seven wickets for 124 runs to dismiss East Zone for 304 runs to restrict their lead to 125 runs in the first innings.Sunny who has been out of the national side was exuberant about his success but put more emphasis on the team’s cause than a personal one.
‘Alhamdulillah, I have tried to do something for the team and I happy to do that,’ elated sunny told to the reports.
Central Zone, who were 179 runs all out in the first innings, gave the better show this time despite openers Rony Talukder and Abdul Majid got out with the identical score of 8.
Shamsur Rahman scored 41 and Roqibul Hassan made 65 to rub off the deficit.
‘I am hopeful that this match is going to be ended in a draw as I believe our batsmen could bat enough to ensure that’. Sunny said.
Abul Hasan picked up two wickets for East Zone while Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Abu Jayed and Nabil Samad picked up one wicket apiece.
