The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Tuesday said it will not accept any conditions to ensure the participation of Pakistani players in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 competition.
Press Trust of India reported quoting unnamed sources said that the Pakistan Cricket Board will not allow its players in BPL unless Bangladesh agreed to send its women’s team for a planned tour later this month.
Pakistan blocked its players from participating in the previous edition of BPL too after Bangladesh had backed out from a planned visit. The tournament went ahead without Pakistani players and BCB officials said if necessary they will take similar position this time too.
‘We cannot accept these kinds of conditions,’ BPL governing council chairman Afzalur Rahman Sinha told New Age on Tuesday.
‘If we feel that our women cricketers are safe to visit Pakistan then they will travel. Pakistan cannot attach any other condition to it.’
A high-level security delegation of the BCB recently visited Karachi and Lahore to inspect the security and other arrangements for the planned tour by their women’s team.
The BCB is yet to receive their report and therefore refused to confirm the series.
