Bangladesh ‘A’ suffered 96-run defeat in the opening game of the three-match one-day series against India ‘A’ at Bangalore on Wednesday. Gurkeerat Singh’s all-round performance helped India ‘A’ to clinch a comfortable win as he scored 65 runs and later picked 5-29 That dashed the hope of the visitors as they were dismissed for 226 runs in 42.3 overs after India ‘A’ had made 322-7.
Bangladesh were struggling at 5-87 before Liton Kumar Das (75) and Nasir Hossain (52) added 120 runs for the sixth wicket. Gurkeerat removed both of them in his successive overs to end visitors’ little hope.
The sixth-wicket stand of 102-run between Sanju Samson (72) and Gurukeet earlier not only repaired the innings but also set a platform for big score. Nasir and Shafiul Islam picked two wickets each for the Bangladesh side.
