Bangladesh’s Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny vowed to come back strongly after they were suspended by the International Cricket Council for illegal bowling action on Saturday.
The duo was considered to be vital cog in Tigers’ attack in the ongoing ICC Twenty20 World Cup but they had to quit at the halfway stage duo to this unexpected result.The ICC on Saturday provisionally suspended the duo after independent analysis revealed that their actions are illegal.
‘Arafat’s analysis revealed that the elbow extension for majority of his deliveries had exceeded the 15 degrees level of tolerance permitted under the ICC regulations for the review of bowlers reported with suspected illegal bowling Actions, while not all of Taskin’s deliveries were legal,’ said the ICC press release.
Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurusinghe said that it is mentally hard for the players while they are going through such a phase.
‘It is hard mentally but then this is how you have to prepare,’ Hathurusinghe told regarding the duo’s condition.
Both the players sounded they had the mental strength to fight it out during the crisis period.
Taskin said that he seen several ups and downs in his little career and is pretty confident that this too shall pass by.
‘I had an injury before returning to the national set-up and during that time I passed a very difficult time,’ said Taskin.
‘It had made me take things on a simpler note no matter how complicated it might look,’ he said.
‘I am sure this too shall pass,’ he said.
Left-arm spinner Arafat Sunny vowed that he would make an attempt to return in the national set-up by rectifying his bowling action.
‘It is not the end of the world,’ said Sunny.
‘There is always a second chance.
‘I will try to rectify my action and try to make a comeback and I am sure it is possible under the perfect guidance,’ he said.
Bangladesh were left stunned with the timing of the ICC concern over the bowling actions of two of their bowlers.
Sunny and Taskin have been reported with suspect bowling actions during their side’s opening match in the ICC World Twenty20 against the Netherlands in Dharamsala on March 9.
The duo underwent bio-metric tests respectively on March 12 and March 14 and was waiting for the report that determined their future course of action.
