Bangladesh women’s cricket team ended their campaign in the ICC World Twenty20 with empty hands after a nine-wicket loss to Pakistan in their final group match in New Delhi on Thursday.
Fargana Haque made highest 30 from 37 balls as Bangladesh posted 113-9 in their 20 overs after electing to bat first at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. Opener Sharmin Akhter was the other notable run-getter with 19 off 34 balls.
Pakistan made a light work of their target, reaching 114-1in 16.3 overs to record their biggest ever win over Bangladesh in women’s cricket.
Sidra Ameen struck an unbeaten 53 and shared 99-run with Bismah Maroof (43 not out) for the second wicket to orchestrate the win for Pakistan.
Ameen, who faced 48 balls, hit four fours on way to her maiden Twenty20 international half-century.
Salma Khatun was the only successful bowler for Bangladesh when she trapped Nahida Khan in front for 10 in the second over of the innings.
Bangladesh lost to India, England and West Indies in their previous three matches.
