Anamul Haque hit a superb hundred to guide Gazi Group Cricketers to a six-wicket win over Cricket Coaching School in the Dhaka Premier League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Monday. Anamul raced to 100 runs as Gazi reached 179-4 in 33.4 overs after they dismissed their opponents, who are winless so far in the league, for 176 runs to earn a comfortable win.Replying to meagre total, Gazi Group lost two wickets for 28 runs but
Anamul, who faced just 85 balls for his unbeaten century, added 139 runs with Farhad Hossain to seal the deal.
Anamul, who struck four fours and seven sixes, batted with complete authority on his way to the century and demonstrated some eye-catching shots and accelerated the gear after reaching his fifty.
Apart from the only life that he received when he was on 69, when Salman Hossain failed to hold the catch at midwicket off left-arm Saleh Ahmed, Anamul went into business with a new-look approach.
Farhad played sensibly for 45 from 75 balls.
With victory all but assured Farhad and Anamul fell in successive overs to deny Gazi a more convincing win.
Earlier, CCS were bowled out for 176 in 47 overs after being asked to bat.
Batsman Salman Hossain made 52 runs while Uttam Sarkar scored 54 but those were not enough to put a respectable total as only two other batsmen could reach double figures against the tight bowling of Gazi.
Gazi opted to bench two spinners Moinul Islam and Mustafizur Rahman as both were reported with suspect action but still they managed to pull up the strings against the opponents through experience Mohammad Sharif, who picked 2-22.
Mehedi Hasan picked 2-27 while others maintained good line and length to choke CCS.
With the win, Gazi have now four points from three matches.
