Bangladesh national team player Mahmudullah’s century and three-wicket haul helped his side Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club win by 11 runs against Brothers Union in their Dhaka Premier League at BKSP on Thursday. In another match at Fatullah, former national player Rajin Saleh’s ton went in vain as his side Cricket Coaching School lost to Legends of Rupganj by six wickets.
Kalabagan Krira Chakra meanwhile snatched a narrow eight-run victory over Victoria Sporting Club in a low scoring thriller at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
Sk Jamal v BU
Jamal skipper Mahmudullah scored 107 runs off 114 balls with five fours and three sixes and made a 119-run third wicket stand with Marshall Ayub (57) leading his side to 252-8 in 50 overs.
In reply, Brothers’ Imrul Kayes (70) and Tushar Imran (55) scored half centuries but Mahmudullah’s 3-29 off 10 overs made a huge impact to restrict them for 241-8 in 50 overs.
Brothers seemed to be cruising as Imrul and Tushar added exactly 100 runs in the second wicket partnership after a 44-run opening stand between Imrul and Shahriar Nafees (20).
Sohag Gazi got the breakthrough by dismissing Tushar in the 30th over but Mahmudullah and paceman Shafiul Islam, who ended with 3-40, played the major role to choke Brothers’ progress with disciplined bowling.
That ensured fifth win in the league for Jamal, who are on fourth place now with 10 points from eight matches, and the defeat pushed Brothers to ninth position with eight points from same number of outings.

Mithun missed his century as he was adjudged leg before of Saif Hassan, who picked up 3-38, but Asif remained not out on 72 off 75 to coast their side home.
