Defending champions Prime Bank Cricket Club picked up an emphatic eight-wicket victory against Kalabagan Cricket Academy in their rain-effected Dhaka Premier League match at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday. KCA were bundled out for 89 in their allotted 21 overs before rain took them match on the reserve day when Prime Bank wasted little time to reach the target making 92-2 off 10.3 overs.
National team batsman Sabbir Rahman remained not out on 40 with five boundaries and a six off just 29 balls while Nurul Hasan, who made 15, was the other not out batsman to take the holders home.
The onslaught began with opener Shanaj Ahmed, who made 22 off just 13 balls, which guaranteed Prime not only two vital points but they also improved their run rate that may turn out a crucial fact in the competitive league.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Abu Jayed grabbed one wicket apiece for KCA.
On Saturday, Prime won the toss and invited KCA to bat before there bowlers put stranglehold on them. KCA never looked to get a tempo in the innings and all the Prime bowlers were impressive especially Mohammad Azim and Monir Hossain.
Right-arm pacer Azim grabbed 3-23 and left-arm spinner Monir, who was adjudged man of the match, got 3-12 by bowling four overs.
With the win Prime now moved to the fifth position in the points table with 10 points from nine matches while KCA languished on the bottom with just two points.
